2026 Finchale Award: Now Open for Entries

The Finchale Award For Short Fiction is open for entries until 10 March 2026. This year's judges are the equally fantastic Maxine Peake & Jake Arnott.
The £1000 annual award is funded by Benjamin Myers is open to writers from (or living) in the North of England, of all abilities and backgrounds.Submission can be no longer than 1500 words in length. This opportunity is open to new, emerging and established writers.
The prize is named after Finchale Abbey ('Finkel'), a ruined retreat for medieval monks living in nearby Durham Cathedral. It's a place that has inspired a lot of Ben's own writing.
